Contributors Bill Etreby, Pharm.D., University of Southern California Bill Etreby received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California, School of Pharmacy in 1971. Dr. Etreby practiced retail and hospital pharmacy before devoting his full-time and energy to software development and clinical information architecture. Pharmacist Bill Etreby remains very active in advocating the rightful position of pharmacists and their role as integral members of the healthcare team. Dr. Etreby is a graduate of the University of Southern California and is actively supporting his alma matter by serving as a member of the Board of Counselors.
Dr. Etreby is a past president of QSAD, a U.S.C. support organization and is
a past president of ASAP (The American Society for Automation in Pharmacy),
a leading professional organization for the advancement of technology
application in pharmacy.
Cynthia Lew, Pharm.D.,
University of California San Francisco
Doctor Cynthia Lew earned her Doctorate of
Pharmacy degree from UCSF in 1987 with emphasis in Public Health Education.
She was employed by CIGNA HMO as an outpatient clinical pharmacist and as a
chemotherapy specialist until 2004. Doctor Lew worked closely with patients
and their physicians to resolve drug related problems and optimize drug
therapy. Her strong clinical skills and knowledge of drug information and
therapeutics as well as her sharp interpersonal abilities proved valuable in
communicating therapy recommendations. Cynthia has recently joined the
clinical team of CliniDATA Source and in a very short time has managed to
gain the necessary training in drug informatics.
Dr. Cynthia Lew attends major pharmacy conventions and interacts closely with pharmacy students and practitioners promoting not only CliniDATA Source products but also the healthcare applications marketed by Etreby
Computer Company, Inc.
Prof. M. F. Eletreby,
B.V.Sc., D.V.M., Ph.D.
Dr. Eletreby is a researcher and a
scientist. He received his master's and doctorate from the University of
Munich, Germany. Professor Eletreby's fields of expertise and most of his
scientific research has been in the areas of Endocrinology, Pathology, and
Urology. He worked for Schering AG., the German pharmaceutical giant for the
majority of his illustrious career and had a teaching post and was a
principal researcher for the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA.
Professor Eletreby wrote and published
hundreds of articles and research papers in all major scientific journals
and publications. Professor Eletreby is now consulting with major
pharmaceutical companies in new drug development and research.
Youssef (Joe) Elzik,
Pharm.D.
Dr. Elzik received his Doctor of Pharmacy
Degree from the University of Southern California. A licensed pharmacist
with more than 30 years experience in various patient care settings. He had
over 15 years of experience in pharmacy management including Outpatient and
Inpatient Pharmacy Services, and Investigational Drugs & Clinical Trials
Protocols. Joe was Pharmacy Supervisor at the Los Angeles County-University
of Southern California Medical Center, and Acting Pharmacy Services Chief at
Long Beach Comprehensive Health Center. Dr. Elzik served on several
committees including the Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Drug Specifications,
Accreditation, Quality Assurance, and Pharmacy Management.
Dr. Elzik was among the team of clinical
pharmacists to participate in the design of the CDS's proprietary
therapeutic classification of drugs and the advent of the "Therapeutic Cross
Reference" that forms the clinical basis for CliniDATA Source copyrighted
intellectual properties.
Faye X. Sun
Ms. Sun earned her B.A. degree from China
Zhong Nan University in 1984 majoring in English Literature and Education.
In 1989, while working for China's Foreign Affairs, she extended her studies
in Beijing University and earned a second B.A. degree in 1991.
Faye's work experience included University
teaching, managing the Provincial Foreign Service Center, and coordinating
business travel for foreign delegations visiting China as well as official
Chinese delegations visiting foreign countries.
After moving to the United States, Ms. Sun
managed the U.S. subsidiary of Bright China Holding Ltd., Hong Kong and
worked as a team member of its Online MBA programs, working with
Drucker Graduate School, translating documentation and coursework of Dr.
Peter Drucker’s MBA special programs for Bright China Management Institute,
Beijing.
Faye is a valuable member of the CliniDATA
Source team. She plays a key role in scanning the scientific literature and
tracking prescribing information changes through diligent communication with
pharmaceutical manufacturers as well as surfing the FDA's MedWatch website
and CDER website. She regularly receive FDA published newsletters covering
FDA Drug Information, FDA Newswire, CDER Consumer Education, and FDA
Patient Safety News. The literature and publication search that Ms.
Sun conducts facilitates the decision support tasks of the clinical
pharmacists and the data entry tasks of CDS's Drug Informatics' technicians.
Jeffery A. Goad, Pharm.D., MPH, BCPSDepartment of Pharmacy, University of Southern California
Jeffery A. Goad is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy in 1994 and Masters in Public Health from the USC Keck School of Medicine in 2003. He completed a residency in pediatric pharmacy practice at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and is Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy from the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties. Dr. Goad has precepted senior level pharmacy students in the areas of Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Pediatrics.
Currently, Dr. Goad co-coordinates and teaches a fourth year community pharmacy clerkship, a third year community pharmacy elective, a 1st and 2nd year Pharmaceutical Care course, and is the director of the community pharmacy residency program. Dr. Goad has implemented numerous community based patient care programs including a travel medicine clinic, tuberculosis compliance clinic, emergency contraceptive service, immunization program, and multiphasic disease state screenings. Dr. Goad has presented papers at numerous pharmacy and medical conferences. He lectures and writes extensively on the topic of community acquired infectious diseases, immunization practices, and community pharmacy programs. He is also a reviewer for several journals on the topic of community pharmacy practice. James Scott, Pharm.D., Western University of Health Sciences
Dr. James Scott received his Pharm.D. in 1994 from the University of Florida. He completed a 1-year clinical residency in Geriatric Pharmacotherapy in 1995 at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Fl.
In 1997 he completed a 2-year fellowship in Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. From July 1997 through April 2000, he was Director of Infection Management at the Clinical Pharmacokinetics Laboratory in Buffalo, NY.
He joined Western University of Health Sciences in May of 2000. His current research, clinical practice and academic interests focus in HIV pharmacotherapy and adherence counseling. His recent research projects have included retrospective analyses evaluating the use and efficacy of HIV therapies, pharmacokinetic studies, and prospective investigator initiated clinical trials.
